The international festival Tanz im August, presented by HAU Hebbel am Ufer, is once again showing a full three-week programme with international and local choreographers from different generations. From August 5–27, 2022 a total of 21 productions with around 200 artists from over 25 countries are being shown in 87 performances at HAU Hebbel am Ufer and 6 other venues in Berlin.
Nine dancers, three choreographers and a master builder: Amala Dianor’s new creation brings together a constellation of talents from Mali, Senegal and Burkina Faso. The goal? To celebrate the vitality of a hybrid African dance, decompartmentalised, in perpetual evolution, like the artistic bubbling that animates the whole continent.
Is this the future? What have we done? And where the hell are we going? With music by Rachmaninoff and Jamie xx, the rising star of the dance world presents a world premiere, brutal as well as beautiful.
